Lace up your running shoes and join the cross country club for some long-distance running! The club is open to boys and girls. The purpose of this club is to provide students with a fun opportunity to develop their running skills, improve their cardiovascular fitness, and reinforce the Virginia Standards for physical education.
Weather Cancellations
Because we run outside, we will have to cancel practice if the weather is bad. Listen to the morning and afternoon announcements for last-minute weather-related cancellations.
Be Prepared
You do not have to be an experienced runner to join the cross country club. There are no try-outs and no cuts. To be prepared for practice, you must have
1. A PHYSICAL ON FILE WITH THE FRONT OFFICE
2. YOU MUST HAVE ATTENDED ONE OF THE CONCUSSION TRAINING SESSIONS
Physical forms can be obtained in the front office or from the Athletic Director or your P.E. Teacher. Bring a water bottle to each practice and make sure you wear sneakers and comfortable clothing. You can change in the locker rooms after school. Dress in layers so you are comfortable in warmer and cooler temperatures.
Get Ready to Run!
The club will meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3 to 4:15. Students not picked up by 4:15pm are expected to ride an activity bus home. In compliance with BRMS’s after-school activity policy, students not picked up on time more than twice during the school year may have their club membership terminated. We meet in the hallway between the gym and cafeteria. Come prepared with appropriate clothing and a water bottle.
